Ranthambore Safari: Jeep and Canter Safari Booking Help
Tigers, lakes, an ancient fort and a forest full of life, a short drive from Sawai Madhopur. We help you plan the safari and the journey to the gate.
Safari permits and availability are controlled by the park authorities and are subject to their rules. We help you plan and enquire; a safari is confirmed only through the official arrangements. Tiger sightings are never guaranteed.
The park
Ranthambore National Park
Ranthambore lies near Sawai Madhopur in eastern Rajasthan. Dry deciduous forest, rocky hills and lakes shelter tigers, leopards, deer, crocodiles and a wide range of birds, and a 10th-century hill fort overlooks it all.
About the park

Bengal tigers
Ranthambore is one of the best-known tiger reserves in India. Tigers are wild animals and sightings are never guaranteed; patient time in the forest is what gives you a chance.

Jungle safari
Open vehicles follow forest tracks through dry deciduous forest, lakes and grassland, led by a park-licensed guide.

Wildlife photography
Spotted deer, sambar and langurs are common sights, and the light on the lakes in the early morning is a favourite for photographers.

Birds and nature
Kingfishers, peafowl, owls and many other birds live in the park, so it rewards visitors who enjoy watching nature as much as tigers.

Ranthambore Fort
A hill fort inside the park, listed among the Hill Forts of Rajasthan UNESCO World Heritage Site, with views over the forest and lakes.

How a Ranthambore safari works
Safari information
- Safari zones
- The park is divided into numbered zones, and each safari goes to one zone. Zones differ in scenery and wildlife, and none can promise a sighting. Which zone you get depends on the official booking and allocation, so tell us your preferences and we will explain what is possible.
- Morning and afternoon safaris
- There are two safaris a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Start and end times change with the season and are set by the park authorities. Mornings are cool and good for light; afternoons are warmer.
- Jeep (Gypsy) or Canter
- A Gypsy is an open 4x4 jeep suited to small groups and families. A Canter is a larger open vehicle for bigger groups, with more shared seating. Capacity and rules are set by the park, so we confirm numbers when you enquire.
- Permits and availability
- Safari entry is controlled by the park authorities, and permits and availability are subject to their rules. We help you plan and enquire; we do not promise a safari slot until it is confirmed through the official arrangements.
Safari preparation guide
- Carry the photo ID you will use for the safari booking; names on tickets must match.
- Dress in muted greens, browns and khaki, and avoid bright colours and strong perfume.
- Bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. In winter, mornings are cold in an open vehicle, so wear layers and a scarf.
- Carry water, a small camera or binoculars, and any personal medicines.
- Keep quiet, stay seated and follow your guide’s instructions. Never get out of the vehicle or feed animals.
Best time to visit
- October to March
- Pleasant weather and good for first-time visitors, birdwatching and photography. Winter mornings can be very cold.
- April to June
- Hot and dry. Animals gather near waterholes, which many visitors find good for wildlife viewing, but the heat is intense.
- July to September
- The monsoon. The park is normally closed to safaris for part of this period, so check the official dates before you plan.

Safari questions
Straight answers to what visitors ask us most.
Will I see a tiger?
We cannot promise it. Tigers are wild, and every safari is different. Many visitors enjoy the forest, the birds and the other wildlife even when they do not see a tiger.
Do you arrange the safari permits?
Safari entry is controlled by the park authorities. We help you plan and make your enquiry. Permits and availability are subject to the official system, and a safari is only confirmed once you have an official booking.
Is a Jeep or a Canter better?
A Jeep (Gypsy) is better for small groups and families who want more flexibility. A Canter suits larger groups. Tell us how many of you are travelling and we will explain the options.
How far ahead should I plan?
Safari places are limited and popular dates fill early, especially in the cooler months. Send your enquiry as early as you can.
Can you pick me up from the station or airport?
Yes. Cab transfers are our core service. Include your arrival details in your enquiry and we will plan the pick-up.
Is a safari suitable for children?
Many families go together. Park rules about age and vehicle seating are set by the authorities; ask us when you enquire.
